On the basis of various panel discussions, interactive presentations and international knowledge sharing, more insight is provided into achieving an inclusive educational climate, with specific attention to \u2018evidence-based practices\u2019. As an educational institution, how do you ensure an inclusive working and learning environment? How do you close the persistent gap between the success of students with and without a migration background?<\/p>\n<p>As interest in diversity and inclusion in higher education increases, so does the need for structural and specific data. Host organizations in previous years were EUR, University of Amsterdam, Inholland University of Applied Sciences, Utrecht University and De Haagse Hogeschool. This year\u2019s summit is organized by ECHO, the Diversity and Inclusion Office of the EUR, the Advisory Committee on Diversity and Inclusion in Higher Education and Research (DIHOO) and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. With this summit, as in previous years, we want to present new knowledge, vision and concrete applications with the aim of inspiring and supporting participants in achieving an inclusive educational climate. It is becoming a mainstream part of the strategic agenda of many institutions. Ideally, this should focus on a structural approach aimed at changing regular processes, the content of the educational curriculum, the competences of professionals and the infrastructure of provision needed. In order to create equal opportunities, more attention is needed to the path that young people take to higher education. A structural approach aimed at achieving an inclusive learning and working environment means that sexism, racism, heterosexism and validism are not left unaddressed and are combated in a targeted way. Through outreach activities, they are committed to optimizing the chances of young people in Rotterdam to successfully progress from primary to secondary education, as well as providing good preparation for orientation and entry into higher education. EUR\u2019s strategic approach is inspired by the success of UCLA which, as a selective public university, is one of the most diverse universities in the United States. Part of making university\u2019s access and retention policies more inclusive is to actively engage in outreach in the city\u2019s most diverse neighborhoods, with UCLA students representing these communities working with high schools to make an impact. During the summit, the chairman reflects on the work of the advisory committee over the past two years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Manifesto against internship discrimination<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Universities of applied sciences affiliated to the VH, universities united in UNL, the ministries of OCW and SWZ, student organisations ISO and LSVb, and employers\u2019 organisations VNO-NCW and MKB-Nederland are taking action against internship discrimination in higher education with the Manifesto. This manifesto stems from the commitment of higher education institutions, employers and students and is based on insights from studies and policy and political commitment from the ministries of OCW and SZW. Gastorganisaties in voorgaande jaren waren de EUR, Universiteit van Amsterdam, Hogeschool Inholland, Universiteit Utrecht en De Haagse Hogeschool. Via outreach activiteiten zetten zij zich in om de kansen van jongeren in Rotterdam te optimaliseren tot een succesvolle doorstroom van het primair naar het middelbaar onderwijs, als ook een goede voorbereiding te bieden op ori\u00ebntatie en instroom in het hoger onderwijs. De strategische aanpak van de EUR is ge\u00efnspireerd door het succes van UCLA dat als selectieve publieke universiteit \u00e9\u00e9n van de meest diverse universiteiten in de Verenigde Staten is. Onderdeel van het inclusiever maken van het toelating- selectie en retentiebeleid van die universiteit is het om in de meest diverse wijken van de stad actief in te zetten op outreach en voorbereiding op instroom, waarbij studenten van UCLA die deze communities vertegenwoordigen, samenwerken met middelbare scholen om impact te realiseren. Semiha Denkta\u015f, professor en Chief Diversity Officer aan de EUR en Abel Valenzuela, professor en Dean of Social Sciences aan UCLA zullen plenair presenteren hoe de EUR en UCLA bijdragen aan kansengelijkheid op grootstedelijk niveau.<\/p>\r\n<p>Tijdens twee parallelle sessies worden presentaties en workshops gegeven over de volgende onderwerpen:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li><em>Aanpak outreach EUR en partners in Rotterdam<\/em><\/li>\r\n<li><em>Resultaten van een EU-project over Sense of Belonging (Engelstalig)<\/em><\/li>\r\n<li><em>Sociale veiligheid ten aanzien van seksisme, racisme en hetero seksisme<\/em><\/li>\r\n<li><em>Opbrengsten van de Students-4-Students Campagne<\/em><\/li>\r\n<li><em>Sturingsdata over diversiteit en inclusie<\/em><\/li>\r\n<li><em>Eerste resultaten van een EU-project over Inclusief digitaal onderwijs (Engelstalig)<\/em><\/li>\r\n<li><em>Institutionele uitsluitingsmechanismen bespreekbaar maken (Racisme, seksisme etc)<\/em><\/li>\r\n<li><em>The role of academic staff in making HE more inclusive: Learning from UCLA (Engelstalig)<\/em><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>De eerste dag van de summit wordt afgesloten met een panelgesprek over wat nodig is om racisme, seksisme, heteroseksisme en andere mechanismen van uitsluiting tegen te gaan.<\/p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=\"1_2\" _builder_version=\"4.20.4\" _module_preset=\"default\" global_colors_info=\"{}\"][et_pb_text _builder_version=\"4.20.4\" _module_preset=\"default\" custom_padding=\"20px|20px|20px|20px|true|true\" box_shadow_style=\"preset1\" global_colors_info=\"{}\"]<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>2 december 2022 van 9.30 \u2013 13.00<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Adviescommissie Divers en Inclusief Hoger Onderwijs en Onderzoek<\/em><\/p>\r\n<p>Tijdens de tweede dag van de summit staan centraal, het werk van de Adviescommissie Divers en Inclusief Hoger Onderwijs en Onderzoek en de landelijke aanpak tegen stagediscriminatie die het gevolg is van het Manifest tegen stagediscriminatie in het hoger onderwijs.<\/p>\r\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p>De Adviescommissie Divers en Inclusief Hoger Onderwijs en Onderzoek (DIHOO) onder voorzitterschap van Vinod Subramaniam adviseert over het bevorderen van een inclusieve, diverse en veilige leer- en werkomgeving in het hoger onderwijs en bij wetenschappelijk onderzoek. Tijdens de summit reflecteert de voorzitter op het werk van de adviescommissie in de afgelopen twee jaar.<\/p>\r\n<p><em>Manifest tegen stagediscriminatie<\/em><\/p>\r\n<p>Hogescholen aangesloten bij de VH, universiteiten verenigd in UNL, de ministeries van OCW en SWZ, studentenorganisaties ISO en LSVb, en werkgeversorganisatie VNO-NCW en MKB-Nederland komen met het Manifest in actie tegen stagediscriminatie in het hoger onderwijs. Dit manifest komt voort uit het commitment van instellingen voor hoger onderwijs, werkgevers en studenten en is gebaseerd op inzichten uit onderzoeken en beleidsmatig en politiek commitment vanuit het ministerie van OCW en SZW.
